Description

The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery, to give it its full title, is a farce by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jr.  It follows a ‘terribly-talented-yet-hapless’ amateur dramatic group attempting to stage a serious 1930’s Agatha Christie-style whodunit only for everything to go disastrously wrong.

The plot within the play is set in the isolated drawing room of Checkmate Manor where an extended family gathers for the reading of the late Sir Reginald Bishop’s lucrative will.  Greed takes over as various family members eye the millions in Sir Reginald’s estate.  A string of murders begins.  Everyone has a motive.

On stage the ambitious ladies of the title face collapsing scenery, missing sound cues, forgotten lines and more.
