Wander through Dittisham’s winding lanes and you’ll discover several blooming gardens to visit, historic cottages, and 2 charming English pubs brimming with character. The village exudes warmth and community spirit, and you’ll often find friendly locals eager to share stories of Dittisham’s rich heritage and colourful folklore.

1. Mill Creek Cottage: A neighbour remarked, while enjoying the sun … What a colourful sight to behold, For a garden of such exquisite charm,
A wider audience must be found. While hiding one’s light may seem quite discreet, Exposing Mill Creek will make all complete.
2. Sherwood Cottage: The garden of this newly rethatched 1930’s cottage, was laid out by the previous owner (garden designer Sam Westcott) which included a substantial pond. The current owners have altered the design with a Devon bank and the emphasis on gardening for wildlife and wildflowers with mini art studio.
3. Shearwater: steps and paths wind their way down and across the terraces of Shearwater’s garden. The borders are full of specimen trees, shrubs and flowers. Lower your eyes from the view of the river and find a tranquil spot to ponder.
4. The Lookout: this garden is colourful, unsophisticated and has a great view. It is on several levels and leads you down to the foreshore of the River Dart.
5. Dunedin House: the garden won the designer Sam Westcott Fresh Designer Award in 2019 from the The Journal of the Society of Gardener Designers. We wanted a garden that showed off the wonderful views of the River Dart and one you could truly relax in. We didn’t however appreciate the work involved in keeping it like that!
6. Deedas: An acre of level garden in Manor Street with a view of the river mixed planting, trees and a wilding area with some remnants of the true Ditsum Plum Trees !
7. Sunnybank: Sunnybank is an extended 17th Century cottage with a long back garden rich with shrubs, lavender beds and a grass meadow area. Gloriously secluded with stunning views of the River Dart. (Teas will be served on the lawn)
8. Manor Cottage: one of few gardens with levelled areas, and a Grade 1 listed front garden. Rose beds, herbaceous border, hot garden and peaceful seating areas.
9. Little Croft: A garden of several parts, Little Croft features an abundant vegetable plot at the front alongside traditional cottage garden planting. The back garden offers colourful flower beds and several modern entertaining areas looking across the small lawned garden to the River Dart.
